Details
This view by Crawford was created shortly after the timber bridge was constructed - prompted by the arrival of the railroad to the Falls in 1883.
As with many of his photos, Crawford has placed people in the foreground to provide interest and perspective. The small building to the left was likely built for use by the railroad as it stopped here on its way up the Columbia Gorge.
