This idyllic lumber camp scene is somewhat unusual, as camps were more often located surrounded by stumps than next to standing trees. Detail view 1 reveals a girl and her brother, with the family dog below them. In the shed to the right can be seen a large quantity of small firewood - perhaps this good-sized building is a dining hall. The original for this image is a large print by John F. Ford, known for his well-composed scenes of logging along both sides of the lower Columbia River.
