There are a lot of professional photos of girls' first communions. This one, taken by Preston Hart in Oregon City, is especially appealing in its simplicity, as well as its lighting. The First Communion is a colloquial term for a person's first reception of the sacrament of the Eucharist. Roman Catholics believe this event to be very important, as the Eucharist is one of the central focuses of the Church. Special clothing is usually worn - often white to symbolize purity. Girls often wear a veil attached to a headdress, as seen in detail view 1. Note the wonderful lace on her dress as shown in detail view 2. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
