The trail to the top of Garfield Peak, in the center of this image, winds along rugged Castle Crest, just this side of the peak. Both provide striking views of Crater Lake for those who hike the trail. Garfield Peak is named after James R. Garfield, former Secretary of the Interior, who in 1907 was the first cabinet member to visit the park.
