Oregon is and was known for its trees, and every photographer, even today, must have a few tree photos in their portfolio. Here is William Partridge's 1880s version. As you can see in detail view 1, the bearded guide hasn't been able to restrain himself, and is gesturing with his left hand - translating into blurred motion in the old long-exposure-time glass plate. His clothing illustrates standard woodland attire of the time -- vest, hat, and a small pouch slung over one shoulder. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
