A lone hiker takes in a spectacular view of Glacier Peak, now called Hillman Peak, as well as Llao Rock, to its right, from his perch most of the way up on the Watchman, the lake's tallest peak, located on the west rim. This is one of many photos taken of Crater Lake in the early 1900s by Fred Kiser.
A mountaineer himself, he was at the time probably the best know scenic photographer in the country. This unusual view of the Crater Lake area can inspire all of us to explore the park at altitude.
