The first of two photos showing a climbing party crossing a crevasse, this view shows Norma Reck, the photographer's seventeen-year-old daughter facing the camera. Facing the camera behind Norma, from the left, are guide Hans Fuhrer and photographers B. C. Markham and Albert Reck. The camera is probably being worked by Reck's partner, Ed Lippert.
At the far left is Hans' brother Heinrich. Visible are cables and a wooden ladder permanently placed on the mountainside to support the large number of climbers at the time.
