The original title for this magic lantern glass slide was simply "Log Shute, Oregon, U.S.A." These chutes, as we spell them now, were a great way to use gravity to move logs from a higher to a lower level. There, the oxen were enlisted to move the logs to their next destination. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
