The ship in the foreground is a Yorktown class gunboat, thus either the Yorktown, Concord or Bennington. My "old ship advisor" leans toward the Concord. In the background is Portland's original double-decker Steel Bridge, a swing-span design built in 1888. It was replaced by the current, but still historic, Steel Bridge in 1912.
