This photo by photographer Ralph Eddy shows the U.S.S. Constitution, affectionately known as Old Ironsides, during its one visit to the Pacific Northwest in 1933. Specifically, the ship was docked at Swan Island from August 2nd to August 22nd, while it crew was given shore leave in Portland.
Reproduced from Eddy's original negative, larger prints of this view show the ship in great detail, and also reveal in the background a hanger and other signs of the Swan Island Airport, which had opened in 1927.
