This photo was taken by Albert L. Thomas about ten miles north of his studio in Newport, looking out to sea at the mouth of Rocky Creek. Today the spot where he stood is part of Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint, a 60 acre park pieced together from land purchases and a gift from the U. S. Government between 1926 and 1954. At the park, offshore rocks provide spectacular wave action in storms and provide habitat for birds, sea lions and harbor seals.
