A log raft is secured next to a steamship, awaiting loading onto the ship. Some large lumber is already in place along the edges of the deck, probably to help keep the logs from rolling.
We're looking southeast towards the east bank of the Willamette River. The Blake-McCall building in the background is at 215 SE Ankeny Street. The bridge to the right is the original Buirnside Bridge, replaced by the current bridge in 1926.
