This crisp view shows the wonderfully tall EMF Opera Coupe at Portland's Studebaker showroom, located at Southeast Alder and Chapman. The showroom itself is impressive, with polished floors, plants, and decorated ceilings. However, it is the car that is the focus of the photo. Studebaker had acquired the EMF company, named for its founders Everitt, Metzger and Flanders, in 1910. The EMF was popular for its day; in 1911 it was the second most popular car built in America, with 26,827 produced. In 1913 the EMF name was replaced by Studebaker. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
