Details
This variation on Gifford's famous "Sunset on the Columbia" features the family's dog, left behind to guard their tepees pitched along the Columbia River.
By the 1890s, plank-style rowboats had replaced dugout canoes, and telegraph lines defined the edges of the valley along the bluffs.
Animal skins were superceded by canvas for tepee coverings. But the dog seems unfazed by it all.
