This unusual photo of early fruit-tree spraying is identified as being near Parkdale, Oregon, to the north of Mt. Hood.
This unusual photo of early fruit-tree spraying is identified as being near Parkdale, Oregon, to the north of Mt. Hood. The man on the wagon is David P. Adamson, who in 1891 had just graduated from Oregon Agricultural College.
Perhaps his work with chemicals as shown here helped prepare him for his later career as a druggist in Prineville. See detail view 1 for a closer view of the hand pump he used to provide pressure for the two men with spraying wands.
Detail view 2 shows the tank used for mixing the spraying solution, perhaps copper carbonate, used for treating apple scab at that time.
