Horse-drawn carriages provided the first public school transportation. This photo has been described as the first public transportation of pupils in Oregon. True or not, it is very early.
The scene is in front of the West Oregon City school, in the area now known as Sunset in West Linn. The primary school is on the left, and the gymnasium is on the right. The canvas top for the carriage can be seen behind it - removed to get a better view of the students.
