This is the Battle Axe Inn, built in 1925, and for years the center of winter activity on the south side of Mt. Hood. In detail view 1, you'll see that the building also housed the Government Camp post office. This particular image was captured by Ralph Eddy, who sold copies of it as a postcard. We've recreated it from his original negative, which supports much larger prints.
