This massive bridge across the Willamette River at Wilsonville was built for the Oregon Electric Railway in 1907.
This massive bridge across the Willamette River at Wilsonville was built for the Oregon Electric Railway in 1907. Electric service began from Portland to Salem in 1908, and was extended to Eugene in 1912. Operation as an electric railway ended in 1945.
Detail view 2 gives a closer look at the temporary supports used in the construction. Detail view 1 reveals a steam derrick and workers on the top of the bridge completing the railway itself.
