Details
This is Jesse Meiser's version of a Willamette Falls photo - one of the "must haves" for every professional photographer in Oregon at the turn of the last century.
Meiser's composition at first appears simplistic, as there are no steamboats, or fishermen, or mills in his view. However, a leisurely examination reveals a wealth of textures created by water, all anchored by rock outcroppings and the town of Canemah in the distance.
Reproduced from the original glass negative, this photo prints well in larger sizes. See Related Photos below for a vertical version of this same photograph.
