This summertime photo of White River Canyon is reproduced from an original negative by Ralph Eddy, an Oregon City photographer known today for his postcards. Located a mile or two east of Timberline Lodge, the canyon can easily be reached by trail, but crossing it is challenging.
There is no permanent trail, as each year any previous trail ends up being washed away, and crossing it involves carefully travelling over rocks. White River is fed by White River Glacier, and eventually flows into the Deschutes River.
