Details
This early view was captured in about 1882 by Davidson when his photographers were completing a series illustrating the construction of the Northern Pacific Railroad. Large numbers of mostly Chinese laborers were employed in the project.
Detail view 2 shows the railway line in the distance on the far side of Clark's Fork. The line was completed in 1883, establishing a transcontinental railroad across the northern tier of the United States.
