Named during the Dutton Survey of Crater Lake in 1886, Vidae Cliff was named in honor of Miss Vidae Marshall, a young woman visiting Crater Lake from Portland.. Through the gap between the two precipices we can see Applegate Peak in the background,

We date this image to about 1920, which was when Kiser produced this hand-colored version. See Related Items below for the original sepia-tone version, which was produced somewhat earlier - about 1907. We've retained the titles Kiser gave to the two versions; for one he chose the cliff in the foreground; for the other he chose the mountain in the background.
