A classic scene - this photo shows two fallers standing on their springboards, starting their sawcut to fall a substantial Douglas Fir. The bottles secured to the trunk hold oil, used to lubricate the saw as they work their way through the trunk. In detail view 2, you can see the sawdust already starting to accumulate for the logger on the right. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
