Two friends support each other to keep their bikes still enough for the long exposure time required, in this hundred-year-old photo taken near The Dalles.
Two friends support each other to keep their bikes still enough for the long exposure time required, in this hundred-year-old photo taken near The Dalles. Bicycles of that time didn't look that different from today's, though you'd be hard pressed to find twentieth century riders as well dressed as this pair.
The fences, dog, and horse in the background communicate the rural character of the scene. At a time when cars and motorcycles were just appearing, bicycles provided a quick and fun way to move quickly about the countryside.
