The two photographers have chosen to crop the image differently, but both have chosen the same tree and the same vantage point to show the beauty of Crater Lake, with Wizard Island and Llao Cliff behind it. Patterson and Kiser competed to produce the best quality hand-tinted and sepia-tone views of Crater Lake in the early years of car camping and Crater Lake Lodge.
