The logging crew poses in a substantial earth cut made for the logging railroad that supported their operation. It's not clear whether these men helped build the railroad grade as well as doing the logging. This view is part of a set of sixteen photographs by J. F. Ford - most or all of which show the same logging crew based in Grays River, in southwest Washington. Several of them are labeled with the name "Saldern", the family which owned the firm. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
