The original for this image is identified in pencil simply as "South Seattle". Buildings in the background appear to be warehouses, which fits with the gathering of delivery vehicles and their drivers.
The original for this image is identified in pencil simply as "South Seattle". Buildings in the background appear to be warehouses, which fits with the gathering of delivery vehicles and their drivers. "Teamster" is of course an old term deriving from the time when delivery drivers used teams - usually of horses - to power their vehicles.
In the early 1900s, when this photo was taken, signs were beginning to appear of a coming revolution of engine-powered vehicles (gasoline, steam and electric) that would soon replace these teams and their wagons.
