The park was established around the turn of the last century by Gustav Schnoerr, an 1886 immigrant, to provide a gathering place for other German immigrant families on 15 acres of his property near where the Tualatin River flows into the Willamette. Activities included picnicking and dancing.
The Schnoerr family operated the park till the 1930s. I did my best to date the Cadillac prominently displayed in this photo. I'm guessing it's a 1910 model, as it still has the square upper lights. In any event, its owners are obviously very proud of it.
