This image is recreated from a hand-colored print made by the Fred Kiser Company, as part of a series publicizing the new scenic highway. Eagle's Nest" is the name given by Samuel Lancaster to the small viewing area he designed as part of the highway.
Originally the view consisted of the river and the town of Bonneville. Later it was a good place to watch construction of the Bonneville Dam.
The original Eagle's Nest was eventually destroyed, but a new "Eagle's Nest" was built in 1996 as part of the reconstruction of this part of the highway as a trail.
