This highly detailed view of the Oregon Coast is recreated from the original glass negative by George M. Weister. By 1918 there were already a number of houses built in this community north of the larger town of Newport.
Detail view 1 shows another house under construction. Note the diagonal sheathing - used long before the plywood and particle board that has now taken its place. Detail view 2 shows other houses built along a frontage road. Note the electric lines that likely came from mills in the area that burned scrap wood to generate power.
