This photo by Seattle photographer Clark Kinsey demonstrates the scale of Weherhaeuser's logging operations in the Pacific Northwest, supported by some very professional looking railroad lines.
Weyerhaeuser had purchased his original 900,00 acres of northwest timber lands from railroader James J. Hill in 1900, so these may be Hill's railroad lines. The camps were located near Vail, Washington, about 16 miles southwest of Olympia.
