This poster is from 1911, when Mass was first elected Clackamas County sheriff. He served from 1911 to 1915 and again from 1925 to 1941. Earlier, Mass was instrumental in building the Willamette electric trolley.
This print is taken from a "magic lantern" glass slide that was taken from the original election poster. The slide was projected on the wall during campaign appearances.
Mass was from Willamette, now part of West Linn, but was required to move to Oregon City once he was elected. He served longer than any other Clackamas County sheriff, and briefly returned to his old home in Willamette after his retirement.
