Probably taken in Oregon while Meiser was working in the Portland area, this photo give a great overview of the life of a general farming family at the the turn of the last century.
Probably taken in Oregon while Meiser was working in the Portland area, this photo give a great overview of the life of a general farming family at the the turn of the last century. The two detail views demonstrate the crispness of the image.
Detail one shows the farmer and his wife next to a beautiful team of horses hitched to a utility wagon. Detail two shows the proud (and very serious) son, who appears to have been given full responsibility for the family's small herd of sheep.
No pole barns here - the newly built barn in the background shows off the board and batten siding and cedar shake roofs typical for the time.
