If you ever wondered how they erected those really tall electric poles back in the day, here's your answer. Lots of men and pikes (the smaller poles with spikes on their ends). In detail view 2, you can count the number of pikes being used. I came up with eighteen.
All of this exertion is being carried on in front of the Oswego Lumber Co. on State Street. A written caption on the original photo explains that the new pole was for electrification of the Portland, Eugene and Eastern Railroad.
