It's said that this temporary footbridge was built in one day, which may be a slight exaggeration, but it clearly went up quickly.
It's said that this temporary footbridge was built in one day, which may be a slight exaggeration, but it clearly went up quickly. It was needed during the construction of the new Arch Bridge at the Falls, since the new bridge was built on exactly the same site as the old bridge.
The cables from the earlier suspension bridge were used to support the construction process. The footbridge allowed workers who lived on one side of the river to get to the mills on the other. Hopefully they weren't afraid of heights.
