Hoo-sis-mox-mox was selected by the Palouse people to become chief in 1886 after chief Big Thunder died. He was about 85 years old in this photo, which was probably taken in Pendleton where photographer Lee Moorhouse had his studio. Yellow Hair drowned in the Umatilla in May of 1909.
