An annual gathering of the Oregon National Guard brought these three (four, if you count the fellow asleep in the tent) musicians to Camp Compson in August of 1893.
An annual gathering of the Oregon National Guard brought these three (four, if you count the fellow asleep in the tent) musicians to Camp Compson in August of 1893. The awake ones are identified (L to R) as C. W. Scott, A. Spooner, and George Mack.
Two regional encampments were held that year - the first in June at Fort Klamath, and the second in August as shown here. The Camp Compson gathering was an instructional camp, with participants from the First Regiment of Infantry, a battalion of the Second Regiment of Infantry, and Light Battery A., who attended without their horses.
