The men in the foreground are, from left to right: C.P. Bacon; Dolph Miller, with the horse and dray; Thomas Jefferson Dryer, founder of the Oregonian; William H. Barnhard, in the doorway, the Wells Fargo Agent; Henry W. Corbett, and William S. Ogden, partner with John M. Breck in Breck and Ogden, the store to the right. In the background can be seen the brig Henry, which regularly brought supplies to the young town of Portland.
