A group of happy campers have especially rosy cheeks due to the enthusiastic hand-tinting of this magic lantern slide. A look at detail view 2 tells us this is the Elk Horn Ranger Station, which still exists, about eleven miles up the Elwha River on the north side of Olympic National Park.
At the time this photo was made, this area was managed as National Forest, as the National Park would not be created until 1938.
