This view of the Forestry Building was taken shortly after its completion, on March 8, 1905. Behind it can be seen the Oriental Palace. One of the few buildings at the Exposition that were designed to last, the Forestry Building was billed as "The World's Largest Log Cabin".
Made from huge unpeeled Douglas Fir logs, it did indeed last, until it was destroyed by fire in 1964. Detail view 1 shows a couple of dignitaries standing in front of the entrance, giving us a good idea of the scale of the logs that were used.
