The Shoo-fly and the Alice were two of the last sternwheelers to be built above the Falls at Canemah, completed at about the time of the opening of the Willamette Falls Locks in 1873.
The Shoo-fly and the Alice were two of the last sternwheelers to be built above the Falls at Canemah, completed at about the time the Willamette Falls Locks opened in 1873. They are moored here in the Oregon City Basin, constructed in the 1860s to make transfers of goods and passengers easier between boats in the upper and lower river.
By walking along the plank path and using a stairway, the exchange was relatively convenient.
