Eagle Creek empties into the Columbia just above the current Bonneville Dam, so the look of its mouth would change dramatically twenty years after this photo was taken.
The trestle shown in detail view 1 would no longer exist, as both road and train were moved to higher ground when the dam was completed. The houses shown in detail view 2 are likely the homes of fishermen or fish hatchery workers, would also be gone by 1938.
The Central Hatchery, started in 1909, was at the mouth of Tanner Creek, about a mile downstream. Being below the dam, it is still there, now called the Bonneville Fish Hatchery.
