This photo was taken in the winter of 1942-43 when Timberline Lodge was closed due to wartime conditions. The lodge finally reopened in 1945. This group is visiting to check on the building's condition, and to provide a minimal level of maintenance.
As can be seen, no snow has been shoveled, and the main entrance is completely blocked.
