The owners and employees stand outside their theater - the first in Oregon City - in this 1913 view, reproduced from a glass negative created by Ralph Eddy. We know it is 1913 by the film that is playing - The Spender, starring Florence Lawrence.
Eddy had a personal connection to this scene. The Star Theater was started by his father-in-law William Long, and Eddy himself worked there as a projectionist.
The building still stands, between 7th and 8th on Main Street.
