Waverley Country Club was chartered in 1896, making it the second private golf club established west of the Mississippi. It moved to its current location along the Willamette River in 1898. Here we see a foursome putting on one of the greens on the river side of the impressive clubhouse. Detail views 1 and 2 give us a good look at the typical gold attire worn in those days. I especially enjoy the long bamboo flag stick being held by the young gentleman in detail view 2. Behind him can be seen some of the gardens for which Waverley is well known. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
