While best known for his logging photos, John F. Ford occasionally ventured into the big city. In fact, he briefly operated a studio in downtown Portland. Ford created this image of the Pioneer Courthouse about the turn of the last century, Built in stages between 1869 and 1903, at the time of this photo it served as the Post Office and Custom House. It is now the second oldest operating federal building west of the Mississippi.
