The Old Blockhouse, across the Columbia River from Cascade Locks.
Often photographed, this unusual view of the Old Blockhouse was taken by Hazeltine as part of his stereoview series "On the Line of the O. R. & N. Company". According to William D. Lyman, writing in 1909, it was built in 1856 by Phil Sheridan, then a young lieutenant, "as a defence against the Klickitats".
