Willamette Falls and Locks - c. 1880

Opened in 1873, by 1880 the locks still hosted only a few wooden frame buildings, mostly for the use of the lock-keepers and their families. The town of Canemah is visible in the distance beyond the falls.

This photo was apparently taken shortly after another Crawford stereoview, shown as the first image in the Related Items tab. The long structure on the river side of the locks has been added, though it seems another building on the ledge in the foreground may have been removed.
