This vertical format photo of the valley, inn and mountain starts with the Paradise River in the valley below. Above the valley can be seen the four story annex, built in 1920 and the 1917 Paradise Inn behind it, both visible in detail view 1. Looking still higher, we can see the Nisqually Glacier, "crushing down the mountain" to borrow the description from the original photograph. Above it rises majestic Mt. Rainier itself.
