This softly hand-tinted photograph of Crater Lake was created by Frank Patterson, who in the 1920s competed with Fred Kiser to produce views of this popular tourist destination. Patterson is best known for his postcards, and in 1926 was the largest producer of scenic cards in the American west. This image is from one of his more rare large prints. The original is 7.4 by 24 inches.
